Baseball Game Preview: Heide Trask Titans vs. East Columbus Gators

For the second straight game, Heide Trask will face off against East Columbus. The Titans will be playing at home against the Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Heide Trask is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Heide Trask lost 14-4 to East Columbus on Monday.

For East Columbus' part, Gauge Simmons was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Simmons also tossed no walks, which is notable because East Columbus is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise. Simmons was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braylon Waddell, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mack Freeman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

East Columbus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for East Columbus and bumps their season record up to 9-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Heide Trask, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.
