Softball Recap: Fort Wayne North Side Comes Up Short

Fort Wayne North Side extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-5 in the process. They lost 18-1 to the Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Legends of the 18-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger's part, Izzy Tudor made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Tudor has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger got a massive performance out of Abby Gillespie, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Nees, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Fort Wayne North Side will be playing in front of their home fans against New Haven at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, they will head out on the road to square off against Prairie Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
