Basketball Game Preview: Valwood Valiants vs. Echols County Wildcats

The Valwood Valiants will venture away from home to square off against the Echols County Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valwood hasn't scored more than 23 points for 11 games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

On Tuesday, Valwood took a blow against Terrell Academy, falling 58-11. While losing is never fun, the Valiants can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while the Eagles are ranked 75th).

Meanwhile, Echols County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were beaten by Turner County 50-21. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-9.

Valwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Echols County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.

Valwood came up short against Echols County in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 33-26. Can Valwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
