Football Game Preview: East Rowan Mustangs vs. Concord Spiders + Official Tickets

East Rowan hasn't had much luck against Concord recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Spiders at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

East Rowan took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past South Rowan 33-12. That 21 point margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

East Rowan found their leader in sophomore Jaxon Lyons, who rushed for 246 yards and one TD while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Lyons is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Amariyon Ferrell did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 85 receiving yards.

East Rowan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Concord). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Salisbury 42-7. With the Spiders ahead 28-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Concord now has a winning record of 5-4. As for East Rowan, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
