Bonita Vista's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They won by a set and slipped past the Otay Ranch Mustangs 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Barons as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Bonita Vista took Otay Ranch into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-20, 16-14.

Otay Ranch's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Gavin Cosico, who had 16 digs and four assists, and Jhyneil Alivio, who had 17 kills, six digs, and three aces. Alivio is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last 15 games he's played.

Bonita Vista now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Otay Ranch, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Bonita Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Eastlake on the 18th. As for Otay Ranch, they have also already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Olympian on the 17th.
