Basketball Preview: Mascoutah Indians vs. Centralia Orphans
The Mascoutah Indians will be taking part in a tournament against the Centralia Orphans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mascoutah will be strutting in after a victory while Centralia will be coming in after a defeat.
Mascoutah gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past Cahokia 69-13. The win was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Mascoutah got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Fazenbaker out in front who went 5 for 7 en route to 11 points plus three steals. Harper Whitworth was another key player, earning ten points.
Meanwhile, Centralia was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 32-26 to Okawville.
Mascoutah came up short against Centralia when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 48-37. Can Mascoutah avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
