Football Recap: White Sulphur Springs Starts Season with Defeat at Home

White Sulphur Springs unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Highwood Mountaineers on Thursday, falling 50-26. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 78-45 to the Mountaineers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. White Sulphur Springs will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Reed Point/Rapelje at 1:00 p.m. on September 20. As for Highwood, they will be playing at home against Alberton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
