Basketball Recap: Santa Gertrudis Academy Comes Up Short

Santa Gertrudis Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the San Diego Vaqueros. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1437th, while the Vaqueros are ranked 665th).

Santa Gertrudis Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for San Diego, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.

Santa Gertrudis Academy will venture away from home to challenge Hebbronville at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. As for San Diego, they will challenge Bishop at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully San Diego likes a good challenge.
