Baseball Recap: Willamina Comes Up Short

Willamina extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-14. They lost 21-3 to the Scio Loggers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Scio, they moved to 6-13 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Scio's part, Adam West made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit (and only one walk). West has become a key player for Scio: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 4-12 otherwise. West was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carter Flack was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Scio is 2-1 when Flack posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Arley LeBard, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

While Willamina had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
