Softball Recap: Scappoose Extends Winning Streak to Five

Scappoose put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Palm Springs as Scappoose made off with a 29-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 31-0 on Wednesday.

Brooklyn Schmidt and Allison Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Schmidt pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Brown tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Schmidt scored three runs while going 3-for-5, while Brown scored five runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Schmidt also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Lux Johnson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five runs, five RBI, and two doubles. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Elly Casey, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Scappoose kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 27 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Scappoose's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 16.4 runs this season. As for Palm Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Coming up, Scappoose will be playing at home against The Dalles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palm Springs, they will head out to square off against Palm Desert at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
