Baseball Recap: Fort Lupton Comes Up Short

Fort Lupton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 13-3 to the Olathe Pirates.

Javier Ortiz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for Fort Lupton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise. Jesse Ceretto also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Fort Lupton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Olathe, their record is now 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Lupton will head out to challenge Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bluedevils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Olathe, they will head out on the road to take on Cedaredge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bruins will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
