Softball Game Preview: North Daviess Cougars vs. Eastern Greene Thunderbirds

North Daviess is a perfect 4-0 against Eastern Greene since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. North Daviess' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Eastern Greene's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

It was a proper cat-fight when North Daviess challenged Jasper on Tuesday. The Cougars took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, Eastern Greene had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Bluejackets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Thunderbirds have posted since April 13, 2024.

Charley Paurazas was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyvia West, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Eastern Greene was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory got Eastern Greene back to even at 3-3. As for North Daviess, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Everything went North Daviess' way against Eastern Greene when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as North Daviess made off with an 11-2 win. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunderbirds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
