Softball Recap: South Gallia Comes Up Short

South Gallia had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it 11. They came up short against the Oak Hill Oaks, falling 15-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Oaks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-5 on April 9th.

As for Oak Hill, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-9. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

For Oak Hill's part, Brynlee Stickley was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Stickley has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellie McCarty, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season. Miley Morgan was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.

Coming up, South Gallia is taking a road trip to face off against East at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Hill, they will host Eastern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Oaks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
