Basketball Game Preview: New Deal Lions vs. Olton Mustangs

The New Deal Lions will take on the Olton Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

New Deal is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering New Home just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. The match between them and the Leopards didn't end well, with New Deal falling 38-23. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while the Leopards are ranked 114th).

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Olton's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Farwell and fell 73-25.

New Deal's loss dropped their record down to 21-13. As for Olton, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-9.

New Deal beat Olton 53-44 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Will New Deal repeat their success, or does Olton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
