Baseball Game Preview: Amber-Pocasset Panthers vs. Lexington Bulldogs

Amber-Pocasset has gone a perfect 9-0 against Lexington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Amber-Pocasset will be playing in front of their home fans against Lexington at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Amber-Pocasset 2.7, Lexington 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

While Amber-Pocasset's win against Hinton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Amber-Pocasset narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hinton 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won four in a row.

Tanner Sutton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Sutton wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Budd, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another was Connor Copeland, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Friday. Lexington fell just short of Meeker by a score of 3-1. Lexington hasn't had much luck with Meeker recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Amber-Pocasset pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lexington, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Amber-Pocasset beat Lexington 8-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Will Amber-Pocasset repeat their success, or does Lexington has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
