Softball Recap: Wood Wildcats vs. Rio Linda Knights
Wood extended their postseason success on Friday against Rio Linda. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 9-6. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Knights back in February, they had to take a 10-3 loss.

Maddie Farham made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Farham was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Karly Sampson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Sophie Rivera was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Wood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rio Linda only posted a batting average of .148.
The win made it two in a row for Wood and bumps their season record up to 16-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Rio Linda, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-10.
Coming up, Wood will challenge Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. Rio Linda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
