Softball Recap: Basile Comes Up Short

If Basile was riding high fresh off their 19-0 takedown of Elton last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Basile Bearcats lost 14-8 to the Starks Panthers on Friday. The Bearcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in March of 2023.

Basile's loss dropped their record down to 5-4-1. As for Starks, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Basile will face off against Grand Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Basile has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Starks, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-13 victory against Lake Arthur on the 17th.
