Baseball Recap: Eustis Find Success

Eustis won the last time they faced Tavares and things went their way on Thursday too. The Panthers came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 6-2.

Braeden Barnes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Eustis' success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 4-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't). Barnes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Eustis let Jabriel Rivera Caraballo and Ethan Jackson run wild. Rivera Caraballo went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Jackson went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Rivera Caraballo has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Yero, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Eustis' victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Tavares, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Eustis will challenge Mount Dora at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tavares, they will take on Leesburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
