Football Game Preview: Ryan Raiders vs. Azle Hornets + How To Watch

Ryan is a perfect 3-0 against Azle since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Raiders will welcome the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Ryan's defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so Azle's offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Ryan was able to grind out a solid win over Richland, taking the game 30-21. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Ryan had a senior duo take command as Quin Henigan threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns and Raymond Smith picked up 85 receiving yards and three TDs. Rontavian Brown handled things on the ground, rushing for 104 yards.

Ryan's defense made their presence known, laying out Brett Kates three times. Leading the way was Kha'Ron Freeman-Wade with two sacks. The game marked his first with multiple sacks this season. Ryan got some further help from Timothy Johnson: he made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Azle, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 42-19 margin over Fossil Ridge on Friday. The Hornets not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 20, 2024 (when they won 52-14).

Ryan's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Azle, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Ryan against Azle in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-26 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Hornets' Hagen Hughes, who rushed for 109 yards and a pair of scores.
