Preview: Riverton Parke Panthers vs. Seeger Patriots
The Riverton Parke Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Seeger Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Riverton Parke will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 331st, while Seeger is ranked 155th).
Last Thursday, Riverton Parke was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-41 to Clay City.
Despite their loss, Riverton Parke saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kenzie Nowicki, who scored 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Jaylynn Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Meanwhile, Seeger unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Fountain Central by a score of 30-28.
Seeger's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cadence White, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds, and Rylea Wetz who scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Wetz has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Riverton Parke's victory bumped their season record to 4-5 while Clay City's defeat dropped theirs to 4-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Riverton Parke have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Seeger struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.3 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
