Recap: Granger Christian Knights vs. Bethany Christian Bruins
The Granger Christian Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 52-26 walloping at the hands of Bethany Christian. While losing is never fun, Granger Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Bethany Christian is ranked 98th).
Zoe Willems continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bethany Christian, dropping a triple-double on 22 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Willems has scored at least 25% of Bethany Christian's points. Karlee Crume was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Granger Christian bumped their record down to 3-3 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.0 points per game. As for Bethany Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granger Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Calumet Christian at 6:15 p.m. on January 11, 2024. As for Bethany Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakewood Park Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Lakewood Park Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday.
