Baseball Game Preview: Mendon Unity Mustangs vs. Camp Point Central Panthers

The Mendon Unity Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Camp Point Central Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Wednesday, Mendon Unity needed a bit of extra time to put away Liberty. They won by a run and slipped past the Eagles 2-1. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Simon Rabe, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Camp Point Central's offense. They came up short against Illini West on Thursday, falling 15-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Mendon Unity's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Camp Point Central, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

Mendon Unity beat Camp Point Central 7-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
