League recap: Wright dominating on the mound for Chester

AAA Region III league recap: 3/8/13

Jake Wright was the best pitcher in AAA Region III this week, leading Chester. He racked up ten strike outs this week.

Chapman made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from fifth to second place in the league thanks to a 1-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Woodruff fell hardest in the standings, dropping from third all the way to fifth place after going 1-1 in the past week. First-place Union County (1-0) went 0-0 over the past week.

Clinton's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only three hits and one walk, both of which led the league.

The Cyclones' Justin Widener was locked in this week, and led the league with a .667 average (4-for-6) over that span. His average for the season stands at .500, which ranks sixth in the league. Widener has totaled four hits this season.

Chester's Wright led the league in strikeouts this week with ten. He's first in the league with 21 total strikeouts.



Wright struck out ten in Rock Hill's 1-0 win over the Cyclones on March 1. Over his five innings pitched he allowed one run on two hits.
