Softball Game Preview: USC-MAE Trojans vs. Downtown Magnets Suns

The USC-MAE Trojans will challenge the Downtown Magnets Suns at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in USC-MAE's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Downtown Magnets has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

USC-MAE will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Animo Bunche on Wednesday. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Stallions. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now won seven in a row.

Downtown Magnets had taken Annenberg down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Suns lost 29-21 to the Panthers. Even if the Suns couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

USC-MAE now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Downtown Magnets, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything went USC-MAE's way against Downtown Magnets when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as USC-MAE made off with a 22-1 victory. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Suns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
