Basketball Recap: Sandia Prep Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Sandia Prep extended their road winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Madlyn Dopson. Everything went the Sandia Prep Sundevils' way against the Bosque Bobcats on Tuesday as the Sandia Prep Sundevils made off with a 56-33 win thanks in part to Dopson, who posted 13 points in addition to eight steals and seven assists. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2023.

Another player making a difference was Maddy Weisler, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. She has become a key player for Sandia Prep: the team is undefeated when she posts at least ten boards, but 7-10 otherwise.

When it comes to explaining why Bosque lost, don't look at Ainsley Capps. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 75.8% of Bosque's points, marking the 14th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Anderson, who put up three points and 12 boards.

Sandia Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for Bosque, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing East Mountain the next time they take the court. Bosque will host East Mountain at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Sandia Prep will host them at 6:30 p.m. on February 11th.
