Fairview is 2-7 against Bath County since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Eagles will square off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Fairview will be strutting in after a victory while Bath County will be coming in after a loss.
Fairview proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 11) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Notre Dame 9-7.
The team relied heavily on Hunter Good, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Logan McCormick, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Bath County didn't have quite enough to beat Mason County on Saturday and fell 5-4.
Gage Thompson put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last five games. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Thompson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Ulery, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Ulery is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Fairview's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Bath County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fairview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bath County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fairview was able to grind out a solid victory over Bath County in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
