Baseball Game Preview: Community Vikings vs. Central Magnet

Community hasn't had much luck against Central Magnet recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings will look to defend their home field against Central Magnet at 6:15 p.m.

Community fell victim to Loretto and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Central Magnet beat DeKalb County 7-3 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for Central Magnet in their matchups with DeKalb County: they've now won five in a row.

Jon-Mical Courtney tossed a big game, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Henry Long was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Rowell, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Central Magnet's win bumped their record up to 13-15. As for Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-17-1.

Community suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Central Magnet in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
