Basketball Recap: Hagerstown Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

If Blue River Valley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Hagerstown, they should've done a better job of containing Landon Lawson. The Hagerstown Tigers strolled past the Blue River Valley Vikings with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 72-57 thanks in part to Lawson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards. Those 24 points gave him a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Anthony Kelley, who posted six points along with 11 assists and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.

With the win, Hagerstown broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-9. As for Blue River Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Hagerstown will square off against Union City at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Hagerstown is facing Union City at the right time seeing as Union City is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Blue River Valley, they will challenge Seton Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blue River Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Seton Catholic likes a good challenge.
