Basketball Recap: West Lincoln Takes a Loss

West Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 56-37 to the East Burke Cavaliers. The Rebels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 69-47.

Barger Shook was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds for East Burke. Shook is becoming a predictor of East Burke's success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 6-3 (and 4-10 when he doesn't). Jay Dixon was another key player, putting up ten points.

West Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for East Burke, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Lincoln won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lincolnton at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lincolnton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 23 games -- so hopefully West Lincoln likes a good challenge. As for East Burke, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Caldwell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Burke knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully West Caldwell likes a good challenge.
