Football Game Preview: Galena Park Yellowjackets vs. Spring Woods Tigers

The Galena Park Yellowjackets will square off against the Spring Woods Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Galena Park put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They breezed past Milby to the tune of 54-12. With the Yellowjackets ahead 34-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Galena Park to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cary Clay, who rushed for 165 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, and also picked up 64 receiving yards. Clay's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Darick Runnels, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.

Meanwhile, Spring Woods' game on Friday was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They managed a 53-48 win over Sharpstown. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

The victory got Spring Woods back to even at 2-2. As for Galena Park, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Galena Park against Spring Woods when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 44-14 victory. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
