Baseball Game Preview: Conneaut Area Eagles vs. Sharon Tigers

Conneaut Area hasn't had much luck against Sharon recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Conneaut Area will head out to challenge Sharon at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Conneaut Area is headed out to face Sharon after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Everything went Conneaut Area's way against Cochranton on Wednesday as Conneaut Area made off with a 9-1 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Alex Wilpula was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Wilpula was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caiden Loucks, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Chase Stewart was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Conneaut Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cochranton only posted an OBP of .259.

Meanwhile, Sharon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-12 victory over Wilmington on Friday.

Will Beckert was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Derek Douglas, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Conneaut Area couldn't quite get it done against Sharon when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can Conneaut Area avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
