Softball Recap: Hailey Westmoreland Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Alief Taylor

Foster's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Alief Taylor Lions a 20-0 shutout. Considering the Falcons have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Julia Kaspar looked comfortable as she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Hailey Westmoreland was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaelynn Fuentes, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Foster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .600 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Foster's victory bumped their record up to 12-6-1. As for Alief Taylor, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Coming up, Foster will square off against Alief Hastings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alief Hastings has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.33 runs per game on average), something Foster will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Alief Taylor, they are taking a road trip to square off against George Ranch at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alief Taylor's pitchers better be ready for this one: George Ranch has averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
