Baseball Recap: Covenant Academy Wins Going Away Against Twiggs Academy

Covenant Academy won the last time they faced Twiggs Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rams were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Trojans. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Blake Bartow was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Bartow was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Sneed, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Covenant Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Landon Dopson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Covenant Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Twiggs Academy, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Covenant Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
