Basketball Game Preview: Merritt Island Christian Cougars vs. Morningside Academy Eagles

The Merritt Island Christian Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Morningside Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Merritt Island Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Merritt Island on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Merritt Island Christian came up short against Merritt Island, falling 58-32. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Morningside Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Boca Raton Christian on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 78-74 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Morningside Academy has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Merritt Island Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Merritt Island Christian came up short against Morningside Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 51-39. Can Merritt Island Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
