Basketball Recap: Henderson County Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Owensboro Catholic

On Monday, Henderson County faced Owensboro Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Henderson County Colonels took a 73-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Owensboro Catholic Aces. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colonels of the 73-63 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Henderson County lost, don't look at Brooklyn Gibson. Despite the final result, she went 12-for-17 en route to 33 points and five rebounds. What's more, Gibson also posted a 71% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Allyson Rideout, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Aubrey Randolph continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Owensboro Catholic, going 10-for-12 to rack up 23 points. Randolph continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Karmin Riley was another key player, putting up ten points and six assists.

Henderson County's loss dropped their record down to 22-5. As for Owensboro Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Henderson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Owensboro Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Breckinridge County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
