Basketball Game Preview: Spruce Creek Hawks vs. Ponte Vedra Sharks

The Spruce Creek Hawks will face off against the Ponte Vedra Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Spruce Creek is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Treasure Coast just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to the Titans 65-59. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Hawks came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Titans are ranked 214th).

Meanwhile, Ponte Vedra beat Fleming Island 66-59 last Saturday.

Spruce Creek better keep an eye on Trace Westercamp. He was instrumental in Ponte Vedra's win, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Tyler Kroog was another key player, going 5 of 6 on his way to 13 points.

Ponte Vedra's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. As for Spruce Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2.
