Basketball Recap: Deer Park Comes Up Short

Deer Park lost against Clear Brook back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Deer Park Deer lost 57-36 to the Clear Brook Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Deer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while the Wolverines are ranked 23rd).

Despite the loss, Deer Park still got an impressive performance from Erin Goodson, who went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points. That's the most points Goodson has posted since back in November of 2024.

Clear Brook's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chardel Terrell, who went 10 of 23 on her way to 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Terrell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rezia Castillo, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

Deer Park's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-15. As for Clear Brook, they pushed their record up to 27-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Deer Park wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-32 win against Clear Lake on the 25th. Clear Brook has also already played their next game, a 68-50 victory against Clear Creek on the 25th.
