Volleyball Recap: Hopewell-Loudon Takes a Loss

Hopewell-Loudon was the 3-0 winner over St. Mary Central Catholic when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chieftains fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Hopewell-Loudon took St. Mary Central Catholic into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-22, 25-27, 19-25, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Hopewell-Loudon still got an impressive performance from Maddie Holcomb, who had 36 digs and two assists. Holcomb is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Hopewell-Loudon has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for St. Mary Central Catholic, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 4-12.

When Hopewell-Loudon and St. Mary Central Catholic next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Chieftains will try to stop Lakota's five-game winning streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Mary Central Catholic will face off against Danbury and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
