Basketball Recap: Chugiak Takes a Loss

Chugiak lost against Monroe Catholic back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Chugiak Mustangs fell 61-49 to the Monroe Catholic Rams. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Rams are ranked fifth).

Chugiak's defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Monroe Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chugiak has already played their next matchup (against Bettye Davis East Anchorage), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Monroe Catholic will venture away from home to face off against West Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Valley will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Monroe Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
