Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Spartans vs. Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan

For the first time this season, St. Francis will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will square off against the Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

St. Francis' tournament run continued when they took on Geneva on Friday. The contest between the Spartans and the Vikings didn't end well, with the Spartans falling 39-22. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-39, which was the final score in Chicago Mt. Carmel's tilt against New Trier on Saturday.

St. Francis will need to focus on slowing down Da'Kylen Heard, one of several Chicago Mt. Carmel players who made an impact when they last played. He posted nine points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronald Johnson, who scored eight points.

Chicago Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for St. Francis, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

St. Francis might still be hurting after the 69-44 loss they got from Chicago Mt. Carmel in their previous meeting back in February. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Spartans were down 41-21.
