The Mount View Golden Knights will square off against the Van Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mount View has three straight wins, Van has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Mount View earned a 5-2 victory over Greater Beckley Christian.

Phoebe Dudgeon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 18 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Cook, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Shiann Carter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Tolsia hit Van with a eight-run sixth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs lost 14-5 to the Rebels.
Hailey Tackett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four RBI.
Mount View pushed their record up to 14-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Van, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
Van's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mount View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. It's a different story for Van, though, as they've only averaged .231. Will they be able to contain Mount View's hitters?
Mount View skirted past Van 7-5 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Golden Knights repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
