Softball Recap: Capital Jaguars vs. La Cueva Bears
Capital had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 12-11-1 to make it six. They lost 16-1 to the La Cueva Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-0 last Saturday.
As for La Cueva, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 20-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by ten runs or more this season.
For La Cueva's part, Genesis Jaramillo was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Jaramillo has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Fox, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Capital will venture away from home to face off against Manzano at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for La Cueva, they will head out to take on Rio Rancho at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
