Softball Recap: Arizona College Prep's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Arizona College Prep waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victor by a 12-5 margin over Higley. The result was nothing new for Arizona College Prep, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ava Moynihan looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Azaria Knight was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Olivia De La Vara also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Arizona College Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Arizona College Prep's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Higley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Arizona College Prep will take on Sunnyside at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sunnyside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Higley, they will face off against Eastmark at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
