Softball Recap: Payne Tech Has No Trouble Against Belleville

Payne Tech won the last time they faced Belleville and things went their way on Monday too. The Lions were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over the Buccaneers. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by eight runs or more this season.

Anais Soto was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Amarilis Negron, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Payne Tech's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Belleville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Payne Tech will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Millburn at 4:00 p.m. The Millers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.14 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Belleville, they will head out on the road to face off against East Side at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
