Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Lewis County

Lewis County came tearing into Wednesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees by a score of 9-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Minutemen also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Haleigh Bishop spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addie Curry and Courtney Boggs did most of the damage at the plate: Curry went 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Boggs went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave Curry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addisyn Posey, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Lewis County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Clay-Battelle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Lewis County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-7 win against North Marion on the 24th. As for Clay-Battelle, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-4 loss against Turkeyfoot Valley Area on the 24th.
