Softball Recap: Brighton Takes a Loss

Brighton lost against Olympus back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bengals fell 5-1 to the Titans. The Bengals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alison Nikolaus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brighton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cynthia Knowlton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Brighton's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-7. As for Olympus, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Coincidentally, Brighton and Olympus will both be playing Alta the next time they take the field. The Bengals will head out to face the Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on the 14th, while the Titans will host them at 3:30 p.m. on the 15th.
