Basketball Recap: Eight Straight Home Wins for the First Academy

There's no place like home for The First Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They snuck past the Osceola Kowboys with a 73-68 win on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Royals as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The First Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Max Simmons led the charge by putting up 18 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cory Mcpherson, who posted 15 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Osceola lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jordan Mason, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 20 points. Jordan Mundle was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

The First Academy's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Osceola, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-3.

The First Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 87-21 victory against Leesburg Christian Prep on the 28th. As for Osceola, they will challenge Celebration at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Osceola is facing Celebration at the right time seeing as Celebration is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
