Volleyball Recap: Glendale Comes Up Short

Glendale was the 2-0 winner over Mt. Vernon when they last played one another back in August of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountaineers on Saturday.

Elle Givens paced Glendale's offense, picking up ten kills. Givens got some help from Klaire Miner and her 12 assists. Givens was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Mt. Vernon can attribute much of their success to Averee Swillum, who had 13 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Swillum has posted over her last eight matches.

Glendale's loss dropped their record down to 13-6-3. As for Mt. Vernon, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-6-2.

Coming up, Glendale will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Nixa at 7:00 p.m. As for Mt. Vernon, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Branson on the 4th.
