Baseball Recap: Cleburne County Takes a Loss

Cleburne County fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Ranburne on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 6-3 to the Ranburne Bulldogs. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bulldogs since on Tuesday.

Jacob Pentecost was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aiden Laminack was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Cade Shubert also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cleburne County's record now sits at 8-4. As for Ranburne, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

The future could be bright for both Cleburne County and Ranburne: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Cleburne County will look to extend Woodland's four-game losing streak when they meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Ranburne will try to hand Bowdon their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
