South Suburban league recap: 5/22/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Eastview, which finished with four wins overall, good for best in the league. The Lightning beat Prior Lake 6-3, Coon Rapids 5-2 and Lakeville South 6-2.

Jefferson made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from ninth to second place in South Suburban thanks to a 3-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, the Cougars fell hardest in the standings, dropping from sixth all the way to tenth place after going 0-4 in the past week. Burnsville (8-2, 6-2) is now in first place.

Eastview put just four batters on base with walks in the past week, but Apple Valley's pitching staff has had the best control this season, surrendering a walk only 48 times in 81 innings this year.

The league boasted seven .400 hitters over the past week. The group was paced by Marcus Frederickson, who collected four hits in seven at bats for a .571 average.

The Lightning's Derek Schiebel racked up eight RBIs this week, more than any other hitter. He now stands at 14 RBIs on the season, which puts him first in the league.

Schiebel was an RBI machine on Wednesday, as he knocked in four runs during Eastview's 6-2 win over Lakeville South. He went 2-for-2.
